« Il obtiendra finalement 36 voix, conclut Benny Lai, comme le montre une note figurant dans l’agenda personnel de Tisserant, note rendue publique après la mort de ce cardinal. »
Et Benny Lai ajoute ceci pour finir, et moi aussi j’en aurai fini pour aujourd’hui : « Dès le mardi matin, en tout cas, le patriarche de Venise était sûr d’être élu. » Et tac : encore un détail ! Dès le mardi matin 28 octobre, Roncalli savait donc que son coup avait réussi : comme quoi Siri pouvait bien se réjouir la veille au soir !
